Six years ago, Daniel Gonthier began editing videos of him playing FIFA football on his Xbox.

He was working a part-time job in Iceland stacking shelves at the time after growing up on a council estate and having been expelled from school.

He started dabbling with his new found hobby after being inspired by other so-called 'YouTube' stars who were making money and becoming well known names on the video sharing platform.

Today Daniel, who goes by the name Gonth, has 1.7 million subscribes of his own on his YouTube channel.

He creates viral football compilation videos and commentates on them in his own unique style.

Youtuber, Daneil Gonthier, from Cardiff, has made his success off Youtube and Fifa videos

He drives around in a £100,000 Mercedes or a Range Rover Sport, depending on his mood.

He basically bought them playing FIFA.

At 25-years-old he's well on his way to becoming a self-made millionnaire.

Not bad for the kid kicked out of Rumney High School.

Speaking at his newly bought three-storey house in Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff, the hub of his empire, he explains how he makes money from playing video games.

"My life was pretty normal, I was your average kid, but I was really good at football and it's something I've always been passionate about, that's how I got into FIFA," he said.

"I looked up to a lot of YouTubers and thought to myself: 'I can do this too, how hard can it be?'

"My job in Iceland was decent and I enjoyed it, but I didn't want to be there forever and when I made my first video and got approached by sponsors, I knew this was the life for me."

Gonth says he spent hours watching online tutorials on how to edit videos. It was, in his own words like going to "school again".

His initial videos were getting up to a million views, and he soon moved to a one bedroom apartment in Cardiff Bay where he began shooting his footage from.

"At the time FIFA was beginning to get extremely popular and that's where I started.

"It was a risk and people were like 'what the hell is this guy doing?' but I've carried on grinding.

"I was making money and living with my mum but I decided to get my own place. Within six months, I bought myself a Porsche.

"Cars are a huge passion of mine and I don't buy them for fame or to show off, I've always loved cars, and I'm blessed.

"But that doesn't mean I'm contempt, when I see someone with a Lamborghini, it motivates me to work harder because I want one too."

Today his YouTube channel is a mixture of FIFA videos and real-life football compilations videos.

He uploads two or three times a week. Each of those days take are made up of filming and editing.

"I'm so lucky to have this life," he says.

"I've been able to travel the world, go to the World Cup final and other things that I'd never be able to even dream of.

"YouTube is massive to the younger generation and this job is what loads of young people dream about."

Standing at over six foot tall he never deals with abuse in person, but receives plenty online, to which he can laugh off.

"I moved to London for a year and had a beautiful apartment," he added.

"But I just never enjoyed life there. Cardiff is my home and I'm so glad I moved back."

Gonth's house is studded with designer clothes and shoes and is stacked with brands such as Christian Louboutin, Moncler and Stone Island.

He has now started investing his wealth and is exploring other business ventures.

"I spent a lot of money on alcohol and partying when I was younger but I don't regret it, it's what I love.

"Now I've learnt from it and I won't spend £5,000 in one club in one night, I'm older and smarter.

"Despite everything I've never changed.

"My friends from school are still here with me and we do everything together. I'll never change who I am no matter what I do."
