American Idol Performances Aulani Resort Hawaii

WAIKIKI, Hawaii — The competition intensified on Sunday night as the first half of the Top 24 contestants of American Idol took the stage at Disney’s Aulani Resort in Hawaii. The performances, broadcasted on April 13, marked a pivotal moment in which the artists showcased their talents to earn a coveted place in the Top 20.

Each of the twelve performers was mentored by Jelly Roll, the season’s first artist in residence, alongside Grammy winner Ashanti. After this round, viewers at home will cast their votes as the contestants vie for their advancement in the competition.

The night began with Ché from Essex, England, who passionately performed “Master Blaster (Jammin’)” by Stevie Wonder. Judge Carrie Underwood praised his stage presence, stating, “You’re just so stinkin’ talented. It was perfect.” Lionel Richie remarked on the difficulty of handling a Stevie Wonder classic and highlighted Ché’s ability to handle it with ease.

Penny Samar, 23, from Williamsport, Pennsylvania, followed with “Good Luck, Babe!” by Chappel Roan. Underwood noted her unique style and emotional delivery, while Luke Bryan commended her comfort and confidence on stage.

Another standout was Kolbi Jordan, 26, from Tulsa, Oklahoma, who delivered a vibrant rendition of “New Attitude” by Patti LaBelle. Underwood applauded her magnetic energy, while Richie pointed out her impressive comeback from a previous illness.

In a feel-good moment, Baylee Littrell, 22, performed Pharrell Williams’ “Happy.” Bryan commented on Littrell’s growth as an artist, underscoring the progress he has made since the beginning of the competition.

Victor Solomon, 26, from Peoria, Illinois, sang “That’s My Kind of Night” by Luke Bryan, impressing judges with his versatility across genres. “Your voice is perfect for every genre of music,” Underwood affirmed.

Gabby Samone, 22, from Baltimore, delivered a powerful version of “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now” by Celine Dion, earning rave reviews from the judges for her emotional depth and vocal nuances.

MKY, 25, from Los Angeles, performed “Adorn” by Miguel, gaining recognition for his artistic style and vocal prowess. He was described as an “old-young seasoned pro” by Richie.

Young contestants also shone, like 18-year-old Zaylie Windsor from Safford, Arizona, who showcased her talent with “Heart of Glass” by Blondie. The judges praised her unique take on the classic.

Breanna Nix, 25, of Denton, Texas, captivated the audience with “Still Rolling Stones” by Lauren Daigle, prompting Underwood to call her performance “amazing” and comparable to Adele’s stage presence.

Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Misailegalu from Las Vegas sang “You Can Have It All,” winning over judges with his charm and vocal talent.

In another impressive display, Slater Nalley, also 17 and hailing from Atlanta, performed Judy Garland’s “Over the Rainbow.” Underwood declared his talent as one of the finest coming up in country music.

Lastly, Jamal Roberts from Meridian, Mississippi, wowed the crowd with a gripping rendition of “Liar” by Jelly Roll. His performance drew strong reactions from the judges, with Luke Bryan expressing, “I don’t know if we’ve ever had a better night in Hawaii.”

The excitement for the competition continues as the other half of the Top 24 will perform on April 14, with the results and eliminations set for Easter Sunday during a special “Songs of Faith” episode on April 20.
