Xbox Game Pass users are unsubscribing in droves after the iconic MLB The Show series was removed.
The addition of the well-liked PlayStation series to the Xbox Game Pass catalog in 2021 was one of the service's high points. It has been gradually adding more games from this series each year thereafter. The fact that the series wasn't even available on PS Plus made this particularly noteworthy. At the time, Xbox fans could play these titles for $10 each, while PlayStation fans had to pay full price.
MLB The Show, which debuted on Xbox platforms and Xbox Game Pass with MLB The Show 21 and has been a mainstay of Xbox Game Pass since 2021. MLB The Show 25, which debuted last month, has not replaced MLB The Show 24, which was recently taken off Xbox Game Pass.

This has disrupted the consistent stream of MLB The Show games that are released on Xbox Game Pass, and subscribers have taken note.
One of the most popular posts on the Xbox Game Pass Reddit page in the past week is a user's discussion about canceling their subscription since MLB The Show games are no longer being added, or at least won't be released. Additionally, based on the PlayStation series, it appears that they are not the only Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
“Pour one out for MLB The Show on Game Pass,” reads the post in question. “I’ve used and loved Xbox Game Pass for a couple of years now. It really does give you great value for your money, especially with how many games I’ve been able to try out. I had Ultimate pretty much for one reason though, I love MLB The Show.

Having Ultimate meant I could play my favorite sports game on my PC through cloud gaming, which would otherwise be inaccessible, and that alone made the sub worth it. But now that they’ve removed The Show 24 and haven’t added 25 to Game Pass, I think my time subscribing is coming to an end.”
The sentiment is echoed by the post's popularity, and some of the comments indicate that users are unsubscribing for the same reason. “I concur. This may be a deal breaker for me. It’s obviously Sony’s decision, not Microsofts,” reads one of these comments. “I’m not renewing my Game Pass,” reads a second comment.

We don't know how many Xbox Game Pass members will stop using the service because of MLB The Show, but if this Reddit thread is any indication, it's a deal breaker for some.
