ITV has pulled The 1% Club from he TV schedules this weekend following the tragic death of a contestant who appeared in a recent episode.

The Lee Mack-fronted show has been a staple quiz show on TV screens since it first launched in 2022 - however, fans will have to miss out on their weekly dose this week.

Despite the new series of The 1% Club having plenty of episodes left, fans will be disappointed to discover that the show is absent from Saturday night's listings.

The hit ITV quiz series sees members of the public trying to join the elite club by solving a series of challenging brain teasers until they are left with the last question, which only 1% of the nation can answer.

Since the show launched over two years ago, it quickly become one of the biggest shows on TV.

However, despite the show always delivering high ratings and a recent return for a third series, ITV has decided to scrap this week's episodes.

Chronicle Live has reported that channel executives aim to avoid a ratings clash with the BBC’s Eurovision Song Contest, which is airing simultaneously.

Instead, viewers will be treated to the iconic James Bond film Casino Royale.

Unlike Britain's Got Talent, which has been rescheduled to Sunday evening, The 1% Club is not on this weekend's schedule.

Instead, Deal or No Deal and thriller Red Eye will be aired on either side of BGT.

Fans were left confused on Saturday after a post from The 1% Club's official X account seemingly confirmed that it would be airing in its usual time slot.

The post read: "Thank you for watching, folks! Don't forget to tune in next week for brain teasers!"

After some fans noticed the show was absent from their TV guides, they went on the app to investigate what had happened to their favourite programme.

"Is the show even on next week?" one person quizzed.

A second chimed: "Hey, wait a minute. You're not on next week. Replaced by Casino Royale." (sic)

Another echoed: "You're not on next week because Casino Royale is on next Saturday."

A fourth added: "You're not on next week!" while someone else commented: "Not on next week???" (sic)

"Two weeks' time unless we've moved nights next week!" another viewer said.

On the latest episode of The 1% Club, fans were floored after a show contestant was revealed to have died after filming took place.

Steven Wong, 52, chatted with Lee on the latest edition of the show.

In sad news, it was revealed that Steven had passed away earlier this year before his episode of the quiz show had been broadcast.

Steven was one of this show's most memorable contenders, thanks to his tales of almost landing a part in a major movie as a child.

During a chat with Lee, he shared the story about his brush with Hollywood, confirming that he was the second choice for a role in the hit blockbuster Indiana Jones & The Temple Of Doom.

His tale had Lee gasping as he recounted his chances of being so close to becoming a film star.

Recalling how his parents had taken him for an acting audition as a child, Steven said: "I didn't realise this, but apparently, we got down to the final two, and it was me and another kid.

"Don't forget this was only when I was about 10!"

His huge Indiana Jones franchise revelation left his fellow contestants gobsmacked.

A message at the end of the episode confirmed the sad news of Steven's death, paying tribute to him.
