Microsoft Launches Xbox-branded Shower Gel, Deodorant, Body Spray

Here is a weird one. One of Microsoft’s Xbox teams have partnered with Lynx to bring the Xbox brand to something that has completely nothing to do with gaming: body wash. Xbox ANZ (Australia and New Zeland) are teaming up with Lynx to launch a new line of Xbox-branded body wash.

The new line of Xbox body wash will be available only in Australia and New Zealand.

There’s nothing special about the Xbox body wash. The packaging says the body wash is meant to “lift your game” but that’s just typical marketing jargon. As or the scent, Microsoft said the Lynx Xbox body wash is a “fresh scent of pulsing green citrus, featuring top notes of kaffir lime and winter lemon, aromatic herbal middle notes of mint and sage, and woody bottom notes of patchouli and clearwood.”

The new range of body products also includes deodorant and body spray, GameSpot notes.

To be fair, this is a brand licensing arrangement, something very common in consumer product retailing (e.g. Toy Story 4 cereal, etc.). It is inaccurate to say that Microsoft has launched these products. It is Unilever that has launched these products. This is an easy marketing win for Microsoft, as they get the licensing benefit and the brand connection with many males.

The profoundly strong message from Microsoft is: "You Xbox owners stink because apparently regular bathing is not something that you do. Get cleaned up, please! Start respecting the olfactory glands of your neighbors today!"

You girl will love you for it – courtesy of the 'Microsoft Xbox Effect'.

All you need now is some Xbox-branded chewing gum and/or drinkable mouthwash to become Mr Casanova.
