If you’re missing the good old days when you could play as the Miami Hurricanes in a football video game, Madden NFL 20 delivered some good news Thursday night.
The newest installment of the popular game will include a mode where you can create a quarterback and take him all the way from the College Football Playoff through the NFL. When playing those college games, you can choose one of 10 schools, and The U is among them.
Florida and Florida State are also among the college teams you can pick, along with Clemson, LSU, USC, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas or Texas Tech.
Texas Tech seems like the outlier in terms of national prominence until you consider that alum Patrick Mahomes was introduced as the video game’s cover athlete Thursday just before the start of the NFL draft.
SBNation reports that EA Sports, the company that creates the game, had to reach licensing agreements with the colleges to include them. They haven’t made an NCAA football video game since 2013 after prominent lawsuits were filed over players’ likenesses.
Madden also reached a licensing agreement with the College Football Playoff to use its name and logo in the game, SBNation reported.
Madden NFL 20 is scheduled for release Aug. 2 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
