Xenoblade Chronicles 2 REVIEW: Nintendo Switch's newest ESSENTIAL exclusive?

The reviews for the game are now live - we'll insert a link here when our round-up of the reviews so far is live.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is officially out tomorrow for the Nintendo Switch, but a day before the game's official release and we have seen very few reviews of the title.

The review for the game in Famitsu (below) isn't too bad, so there's hope there.

And previews for the title haven't been weak, either.

We'll update this page when more reviews go live.

Nintendo Switch fans will be very happy to note that the console's next big game is starting to get some positive reviews dropping in from around the world.

After a year that's seen Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey release, many gamers thought that Nintendo may now have had any more tricks up its sleeve.

But they could be wrong.

A new review, courtesy of Japanese magazine Famitsu, has a lot of good things to say about the sequel to the 3DS' cult RPG.

Here's how Famitsu's score breaks down:

• Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (Switch) – 9/9/8/9 [35/40] (via Gematsu)

For reference, the previous games in the series managed to grab these respective scores from the magazine:

• Xenoblade Chronicles got 9/9/9/9 [36/40]• Xenoblade Chronicles X got 9/9/8/8 [34/40]

The summary of the review says that most of the game is largely positive, but does critisize the way the game makes you grind for currency, and that hurts the overall tempo of the game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is an action role-playing video game being developed by Monolith Soft and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch video game console.

While it is a sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles, it features a new world and cast of characters and 'takes place in an endless ocean of clouds' where the last remnants of civilisation live on the backs of huge creatures called Titans.

You can either purchase the regular version of the game, or a Special Edition version.

Here are the perks of the Special Edition version:

• The Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Collectors Edition features Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Nintendo Switch, a collectors Steelbook, a sound selection CD and a 220 page artbook• Explore an endless ocean of clouds, where the last remnants of civilisation live on the backs of colossal beasts called Titans• Experience the story of Rex and his new friend, Pyra, a mysterious being known as a Blade who grants him tremendous power• Together, search for Pyra's long lost home Elysium, the ultimate paradise for all of humanity

Nintendo dropped a huge firmware update for the Nintendo Switch console, which now brings the Switch system to version 4.0, last month.

Unlike past versions, it has introduced some pretty MASSIVE updates to the console and is the latest update to the console since May.

You can see some of the big changes in the gallery above, and read the full 4.0 version changelog underneath.

The only thing missing is another feature which Vooks.net is reporting and that's further support for USB audio devices.

"We tested this with the Wireless PS4 Headset with the Switch docked and confirmed that it does work, but we’ve also heard reports of other USB audio devices working." explained the site.

"It’s not guaranteed to work for every device, but there should be a sizeable selection of headsets and possibly even speakers that are compatible."
