Rainbow Six Siege operators 2017: New Blood Orchid reveal confirms PS4 and Xbox One news

Rainbow Six Siege Blood Orchid UPDATE

Ubisoft has yet to fully reveal their new Blood Orchid Season 3 update, which they've maintained will be revealed during a livestream at the Rainbow Six Pro League Finals later this week.

The finals are scheduled to take place on August 26 (Saturday), so it won't be long until the official announcement and trailers arrive.

However, in a recent news update from the games official Twitter account, it's been revealed that attendees at Gamescom will have the chance to play the new the Season 3 build.

"Blood Orchid and the Season 3 build is up on 50 PC's at @gamescom! If you're attending this week, come see us at Hall 6," read a tweet from the account sent earlier today.

It means that Gamescom attendees could have the chance to see operators Ying, Lesion and the as yet unannounced Ela before anyone else in the world.

This could mean we also see a few more leaks in the coming days leading up to Saturday's big reveal.

Blood Orchid is playable at Gamescom

Ubisoft has this evening dropped their second big deep dive into the games second new operator coming to Rainbow Six Siege as part of the Blood Orchid update.

This time around it focuses on Lesion, the second member of the Special Duties Unit (S.D.U.) who are joining Team Rainbow following the reveal of operator Ying last Friday.

We also get a look at his mines which inject's enemies with a toxic compound in a new teaser trailer released alongside the mountains of info about the new operators.

Here's a bit more info about Lesion courtesy of Scriptwriter Farah Daoud-Brixi:

“Originally modeled on the British Special Air Service, the S.D.U. has since developed their own training and methods. It is this edge that we wanted to capture with Lesion, who strikes unexpectedly and gains intensity with time.”

Liu Tze Long, codenamed Lesion, is one of three new operators joining the game in the season 3 expansion later this week.

Ubisoft say his resilience to physical hardships is what sets him apart from other candidates, while Daoud-Brixi also added: “He was one of the three Operators who was able to withstand an extreme version of the S.A.S.’ Resistance to Interrogation Program.”

Lesion, alongside Ying, is representing Hong Kong’s Special Forces and wields the T-5 SMG and SIX12 SD as primary weapons, as well as a Q-929 as a secondary weapon.

Here's a little more backstory to Lesion, courtesy of Ubisoft's Blood Orchid hub page:

"Lesion is known to take his work seriously, and to expose himself to high-risk situations on a daily basis. This lack of consideration for his well-being has been judged as arrogant by some, and has often alienated him from his peers.

"But this natural drive to withstand difficult situations is also what pushed him to volunteer for mine disposal duty, which launched his career.

"Lesion’s first operation was lead in Indonesia, Op. Green Viper. The laptop of a Malaysian physicist, who had recently joined an extremist group, was found in Macau.

"It's data revealed research on a biological weapon consisting of a bubonic plague bacteria obtained from animals. Liu teamed up with two S.A.S Operators, codenamed Smoke and Thatcher, to infiltrate the physicist’s laboratory and neutralize every trace of the substance.

"As this was Lesion’s first successful mission, the trio stayed an extra day in Macau and filed the event as an off-duty bonus."

Describing the new map, Ubisoft has said: The site was appropriated by a criminal organization, who adapted its layout to answer their needs. But lush grass and vines can be seen gnawing on old rusty metals, as nature slowly reclaims the area.

We've no doubt more will be revealed in the coming days, with more insight into the third and final new operator joining the game, Ela.

For those willing to wait though, Ubisoft has said that it will reveal everything in full during a livestream at the Rainbow Six Pro League Finals next week.

The finals are scheduled to take place on August 26, so it won't be long until the official announcement arrives.

Rainbow Six Siege - Operation Blood Orchid New Operators Roundup

VG247.com have rather succinctly rounded up the three new operators and their main abilities coming to the game with the Operation Blood Orchid update later this month.

ELA: "A defender, her main ability is the Grzmot Mine – a concussion proximity mine that can be attached to surfaces. The mine impairs hearing and causes a dizzying effect when triggered."

Lesion: "Another defender whose main ability, GU, injects enemies with a toxic compound delivered through mines. The toxic damages enemies and limits their speed."

Ying: "Ying’s main ability is a cluster of flash charges called Candela that can either be attached to surfaces, or thrown as a grenade."
