BORDER WARS: Obama sends fighter jets to Putin's border

The outgoing US president has agreed to supply Finland – an enemy of Putin – with powerful F-18 fighter jets.

The US signed an alliance with Finland last month in the face of Putin's increasingly aggressive behaviour, and has agreed to sell them £122million worth of the combat planes.

Finland and the US have agreed to work together to ensure stability among the Baltic Sea nations, including Russia.

HAND-OFF: Putin and Obama have shared frosty handshakes

This is the latest incident in the decline of the relationship between the US and Russia, which has now reached crisis point.

Last month, Obama and Putin were pictured sharing a frosty handshake at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit.

Obama’s poor relationship with Putin was also shown at the G20 Summit in September, when the two powerful leaders held another short, blunt handshake.

It is believed that Putin will try and reestablish dialogue with the US when Donald Trump begins in office.

The pair have made no secret of their mutual respect and Vlad was one of the first leaders Trump called after his shock election victory.

But several NATO nations have expressed concern about a future relationship between the two, worrying that Putin may use this to invade Europe.

Nearby Norway have even taken to monitoring Putin's activities for fear of attack.
