Rainbow Six Siege comes to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 on December 1

Ubisoft announced the next-gen version of Rainbow Six Siege a couple of months ago, and now, it has a date attached to it. Starting on December 1, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players will be able to jump into the popular tactical shooter with smoother frame rates and at higher resolutions over the previous generation consoles.

The developer is giving players two graphics modes: Performance and Resolution. The former will target 120FPS gameplay with dynamic resolution scaling to hit 4K, while the latter turns up the resolution to native 4K but only with a 60FPS target.

While the above options will be available for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 players, Xbox Series S owners will find that their Performance Mode will play the game at 1080p targetting 120FPS, while Resolution Mode will target 60FPS at 1728p. Interestingly, this is the same resolution the Xbox One X utilizes for the game.

There are some platform-specific enhancements too. Quick Resume support will be available on the Xbox Series X|S, while the PlayStation 5 version is gaining some additional capabilities in the form of DualSense haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and controller sound output, as well as Activities support.

Ubisoft is offering free upgrades of Rainbow Six Siege to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players who upgrade to a next-gen console within the same family. All players will also keep their progression and items through the transfer process. The latest major update incoming to the tactical shooter, Operation Neon Dawn, could be landing alongside this release as well, bringing a laser-wielding Thai operator and a Skyscraper rework.
